Shaved-ice shop opens for a 100-day period from July 2

“Morino Hyakunichi-gori,” a shaved-ice store that only opens for 100 days, began this season’s business on July 2 on the premises of the Jozankei Dai-ichi Hotel Suizantei in Minami-ku, Sapporo.
The unique feature of this shaved ice is that the flavor can be varied by adding cheese or cream. The syrups used to top the desserts are handmade by Suizantei chefs, and four types of shaved ice are available: three standard types (990 yen each), including strawberry and green tea flavors, and one more flavor that is changed every 20 days (1,485 yen).
On July 1, the shop held a pre-opening event, accepting reservations via social media, and visitors were able to savor the shaved ice right away. A university student from Sapporo who purchased the strawberry flavor said, “It’s very satisfying because they use seasonal ingredients. It was worth coming.” The store will open until October 9. Numbered tickets to determine the order in which customers are served will be distributed from 10:30 a.m. before the store opens at 11:00 a.m. Distribution of numbered tickets will end at 3:00 p.m.
