Rice topped with Hokkai shrimp available for a limited period at roadside rest area in Matsumae

A seasonal dish of ‘rice topped with Matsumae Hokkai shrimps’ is being offered for a limited period until early April at the Umikaze Shokudo restaurant within Kitamaebune Matsumae, a roadside rest area in the town of Matsumae in southern Hokkaido.
The bowl of rice is topped with approximately 40 Hokkai shrimps, caught off the coast of Satsumae in the town. The dish is served with miso soup made from shrimp-head stock, and costs 1,500 yen. According to Mr. Hasegawa, the rest area manager, “This is the most popular dish at the restaurant. We want people to enjoy the sweet, rich flavor of the Hokkai shrimps.”
The restaurant is open from 11:00 a.m. Last orders at 2:30 p.m.
