Vegan shop opens in food wing of Ebetsu Tsutaya bookstore

Asombroso, a french fries and vegan sweets store, opened on March 18 in the food wing of the Tsutaya bookstore in Ebetsu in central Hokkaido. This is the long-awaited permanent store of the establishment that operates from food truck based in the city of Bibai.
The french fries are made mainly from Danshaku (Irish cobbler) potatoes produced in Sorachi, coated with potato starch and deep-fried at a controlled temperature. The potatoes are popular for their umami (savory) taste and crunchy texture, and are available with eight different toppings, including cheese.
Vegan sweets such as cookies and cakes are also offered. Saito Misaki, CEO of ‘asombroso Hokkaido’ says, “We want to make this a place where people can connect with each other – a place that’s loved.”
Business hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
