Animal snow figures appear on the trunks of trees in Maruyama Park
Snow figures of animals such as squirrels, rabbits and brown bears, which are attached to the trunks of larch trees, have appeared one after another in Maruyama Park in Chuo-ku, Sapporo, attracting the attention of locals who walk in the park.
The creator of the ‘snow animals’ is Tanaka Hiromi, a designer with an office and home nearby, who started making doll-shaped snow sculptures three winters ago, calling them ‘snow boys’ and placing them on park benches. So far this winter, she has created more than ten works of art, including snow boys.
