Porocle electric-motor-assisted bicycles at a designated port, Chuo-ku

Porocle, a cycle sharing service in central Sapporo, began this year’s operation on April 9. This year, 70 bicycles with new operating panels have been introduced, and the number of designated ports (special parking lots) has been increased in the Odori area, where demand for the service is high.
Porocle allows customers to rent bicycles from one of the designated ports and return them to any of the ports. All 480 bicycles are electric-motor assisted and are available 24 hours a day. The Porocle non-profit organization (Sapporo) manages the system, which it leases from Docomo Bike Share, a subsidiary of telecommunications giant NTT Docomo.
The 70 bicycles that were added this year are equipped with a new operating panel with voice guidance in Japanese and English. Three new designated ports have been established, including Odori Nishi 3-chome and 4-chome, and two have closed, bringing the total to 53 locations – one more than the previous year. The number of parking spaces has also been increased at some of the ports. The service will be available for a total of 219 days, until November 13.
Fees include 165 yen for up to 30 minutes of use. For more information, please visit the Porocle website at https://porocle.jp/
