Best time to see wisteria trellises in Hakodate’s Goryokaku Park

Now is the best time for viewing wisteria trellises in Goryokaku Park in the city of Hakodate, as the flowers herald the arrival of early summer in the city. Locals are treated to the sight of trellises adorned with light purple and white flowers, and the sweet-smelling fragrance reaches mask-covered nostrils.
The wisteria trellises, located near Ninohashi Bridge in the said park, are approximately 3.5 m tall, 5 m wide and 30 m long. The flowers began blooming from May, and the peak viewing period will continue until mid-June.
