Blue Pond floodlit fantasy
The ‘Blue Pond,’ a famous sightseeing spot in the town of Biei in central Hokkaido, was lit-up in a floodlighting test carried on October 21. The surface of the blue water and the withered larch trees that rise from the pond were illuminated fantastically, drawing gasps of surprise from approximately 50 tourists.
The lighting of the pond is implemented every year by the town’s executive committee, and the LEDs’ white and blue lights enable onlookers to enjoy the various expressions of the water and the trees.
The pond will continue to be lit-up from November 1 through to the end of April next year, with light-up time in November and December from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
