Hydrangeas in Full Bloom at Matsumae Park
Hydrangeas, a yearly summertime sight, are in full bloom at Matsumae Park in southern Hokkaido.
Amidst the dark green foliage that surround the tower of Matsumae Castle, the purple and blue hydrangeas provide a refreshing sight for visitors.
Hydrangeas are called “Shichi henge” in Japanese. This refers to the flowers changing colours seven times after blooming.
The flowers of approximately 2000 plants in the park blossomed one after another in early July.
Visitors can enjoy this scenery until mid-August.
