Lake Kussharo covered in sea of clouds

Visitors enjoyed a spectacular sea of clouds that appeared early in the morning of June 9 at the Tsubetsu Pass Observatory overlooking Lake Kussharo in the Okhotsk region of eastern Hokkaido.
At 6 o’clock that morning, the area around the pass observatory was clear but the sky below was filled with cloud. The sea of clouds covered the Kussharo Caldera up to about 800 meters above sea level, and most of the outer rim mountains were also covered by clouds. The clouds extended to the Sea of Okhotsk side, creating a 360-degree sea of clouds.
