Sargent’s cherry blossoms bloom in Kushiro – the latest in Japan.

The Kushiro Local Meteorological Office announced on May 8 that Sargent’s cherry blossoms had bloomed in the city of Kushiro in eastern Hokkaido. This was the last of the 58 observation points in Japan to announce the blossoms, and the city ranked as “Japan’s latest blossoms” for the sixth consecutive year.
At 3:30 p.m. on May 8, an employee of the meteorological office confirmed that more than five or six buds had opened on the specimen tree in Yanagimachi Park in the city, and declared that the trees were in bloom. According to the meteorological office, “the blossoms are early due to the continued warm weather.”
