Sunflower viewing returns for first time in 2 years at Kuroda Farm in Otofuke
An event to view sunflowers grown for use as green fertilizer was held for the first time in two years, between October 2 and 10, at Kuroda Farm in the town of Otofuke in the Tokachi region of eastern Hokkaido. “I hope it gives people a chance to get out for the first time in a while, and refresh themselves,” said the farm’s owner, Kuroda Hiromitsu.
The event, which involves visitors riding a trailer towed by a tractor through sunflower fields, has been held at the farm since 2016. Preparations took place last year, too, but the event was canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. This year, as infections in the Tokachi region have decreased, it was decided to hold the event while taking measures such as reducing the limit of passengers on the trailer and not providing refreshments.
