The general meeting of The Hokkaido Executive Committee of the ‘Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS)’, an international event for experienced-based tourism, was held online on September 6th. The executive committee decided to re-bid to host ATWS in 2023, at the earliest. “We want to unite and move forward,” emphasized Ebina Hiroya, vice-chair of the executive committee and Mayor of Kushiro City.

In response to the global spread of the novel coronavirus, the action committee for the international "Adventure Travel" (AT) summit announced on May 6 that it will switch the September 20-24 event program to a virtual online format. The summit was originally scheduled to take place in various spots within Hokkaido, such as Sapporo.
