A photographic review of the Olympic Marathon test event in Sapporo

The ‘Hokkaido Sapporo Marathon Festival’ was held as a test event on the Tokyo Olympic Marathon course in central Sapporo on May 5th. The event comprised a half marathon in which Japan’s four male and female Olympic athletes took part along with overseas athletes, and a 10 km race in which university students and the like participated. The event was a test-run for the staging of the actual Olympic race. Due to measures to prevent the spread of infection from the Coronavirus, members of the public were asked to refrain from gathering at the roadside to watch the exceptional event, which we look back on in pictures.
