Donan Bus asserts in-vehicle safety with ventilation demonstration
Donan Bus (Muroran), which operates mainly in the central Hokkaido regions of Iburi and Hidaka, is asserting the safety of its services by means of a demonstration to display the ventilation functions in its buses.
Approximately 30 people involved with the company boarded a stationary bus that was filled with laboratory-grade smoke. The air inside the bus was white with the smoke, but when the front and middle doors of the bus were opened and the air conditioner and heater were activated, visibility improved. The smoke could clearly be seen flowing out of the bus and, within 5 minutes, ventilation was complete. In another demonstration in which the bus was driven around the company’s parking lot, ventilation was completed in two-and-a-half minutes – about half the time.
