Goryokaku Tower observatory windows cleaned

On April 12 and 13, the glass windows of the observation deck of Goryokaku Tower (Goryokaku-cho, Hakodate) were cleaned ahead of the major spring holiday period (April 29 – May 8).
The window cleaning is carried out three times a year: in late April, early August, and mid-October. This time, a total of 315 panes of glass in the observatory, which are approximately 90 and 86 meters above the ground, were polished by hand over a two-day period.
On the 12th, three workers rode on a gondola suspended from the roof of the observatory and carefully cleaned the windows using wipers and rags. Curious tourists watching from the inside of the observatory took pictures of the work being undertaken.
