FDA operates charter flights to Obihiro
A welcome ceremony was held for a charter flight from Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Airport operated by Fuji Dream Airlines (FDA, Shizuoka), which arrived at Tokachi Obihiro Airport on April 30. From April 29 to May 4, FDA operated a total of eight charter flights between Obihiro and three airports in Honshu.
On April 30, fire trucks welcomed the FDA aircraft as it landed at Tokachi Obihiro Airport, by creating an archway of water. In the airport building, officials welcomed the 29 passengers. Members of the Obihiro Kamuitou-upopo Preservation Society performed an ancient Ainu dance, as passengers clapped along to the rhythm. A man visiting from Nagoya on a 3-day, 2-night tour said, “This is a tour to see the Shiretoko 5 lakes and Lake Mashu. I want to fully enjoy my first visit to eastern Hokkaido.”
Since 2011, FDA has been operating charter flights to Tokachi Obihiro Airport during August and other periods of high demand. This time, the company operated a total of seven flights from Shizuoka, Nagoya and Hiroshima, and one flight from Obihiro to Hiroshima.
