High class ryokan "Raku Suisan" opens in Kutchan
The high class ryokan “Raku Suisan” constructed by Shin Nihonkai Ferry (Osaka) group company Authent Hotel (Otaru) in
the Kabayama area of central Hokkaido’s Kutchan Town opened for business on December 1.
The single-story building has a 3,400 square meter floor area on a 2.3 square hectare plot. There are a total of 18 rooms, divided into 75-square-meter Western style rooms (2 guest max per room) and 95-square-meter Japanese-Western style rooms (4 guest max per room). The specialty feature is a view of the superlative Mt. Yotei peak and a private hot spring bath (always fresh, never recycled) in every room. The ryokan name comes from a quote in the “Analects of Confucius”.
The room fee starts at 110,000 yen per person for 1 night and 2 meals in the winter season (December to March). This is in the expensive range even for the Niseko area with its numerous high class lodging facilities. Up through March of next year, the prices start at 60,000 yen for those same features in commemoration of the new opening. Reservations from places like Tokyo have already started filling up some parts of the New Year’s holiday season.
