Hong Kong company starts building 19 vacation homes in Kutchan

Hong Kong based company “The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts” operates high-end resorts in areas like Europe and Southeast Asia. It has officially launched construction of 19 vacation home condominiums in the town of Kutchan in Central Hokkaido’s Niseko area, and plans to complete the homes by 2025.
In 2016, the company acquired a plot totaling to 20 hectares in size in the Hirafu area of Kutchan. Initially, the company also planned to construct a largescale hotel building for lodging, but they changed their plans. The president commented, “I felt that building beautiful buildings, even if they are small, was the more desirable path.” A single condominium completed in advance of the others will start operating as a lodging facility this month. For now, lodging will focus mainly on trial usage for people considering purchasing their own condominium.
Moreover, the company plans to relocate two old folk houses from the Hida region in Gifu Prefecture and use them as a restaurant and yoga studio, as well as launch by 2023 a hot spring that is currently being excavated on the resort land. They also have plans to provide commercial facilities on the plot.
Pavilions owns resorts in 13 locations worldwide, including areas like Europe and Southeast Asia. Their first project in Japan is the Niseko project.
