‘Online Sapporo Snow Festival 2021’ held from 4th to 28th

The ‘Online Sapporo Snow Festival 2021’ that is replacing the Sapporo Snow Festival, which was cancelled due to the effects of the Covid-19 virus, began via the Internet on February 4. Videos and images showing the production of snow sculptures and the history of past snow festivals will be streamed until the 28th.
The event is being held by the Sapporo Snow Festival Organizing Committee. In the opening program, which was streamed on the online video platform YouTube from 7 p.m. on the 4th, highlights were introduced by guests. One or two short videos from a total of 50 produced on several themes will be streamed each day as part of a ‘great history exhibition’, which introduces snow festivals from the past. A remote guided tour of six Sapporo tourist spots, including Maruyama Zoo, was also streamed from the 6th.
Videos introducing the processes involved in creating snow sculptures at Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill and Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium were also streamed from the 8th. According to the organizing committee, “We want everyone to enjoy it from the comfort of their home”.
