Rusutsu Resort receives award at international winter sports expo in Beijing, China
Rusutsu Resort, which is operated by Kamori Kanko Co., Ltd. (Sapporo), has received the ‘Winter Travel Hot Destination of the Year 2021’ award for the first time, at an international winter sports expo held in Beijing, China from September 2 to 7. Looking ahead to after the COVID-19 pandemic has been brought under control, the company hopes the award will lead to opportunities in the ski market in China, ahead of the Beijing Winter Olympics.
The exposition is organized by the Beijing Olympic City Development & Promotion Association, and more than 100 companies and organizations from China and overseas exhibit there. From Japan, as well as The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) and Aomori Prefecture, Kamori Kanko – participating for the first time – also took part, introduced Rusutsu Resort and facilities at Sapporo Teine and Tokachi Sahoro Resort, online. Awards were presented to the most attractive winter travel destinations and tourist facilities of 11 organizations, including Rusutsu Resort.
With regard to the award, Kamori Kanko’s representative analyzed that “artificial snow is the mainstream at ski resorts in China, and people yearn for natural powder snow.” The Chinese government plans to increase the winter sports population to 300 million by 2022, and the company plans to strengthen its PR to attract customers post COVID-19.
