An accommodation facility of the global luxury-brand hotel chain ‘Ritz Carlton’ opened in the town of Niseko in central Hokkaido on December 15. Due to the continuing spread of the Covid 19 virus, for the foreseeable future, the hotel will be welcoming affluent guests mainly from within Japan.

‘Higashiyama Niseko Village Ritz Carlton Reserve’ is located within ‘Niseko Village,’ which is owned and run by YTL Hotels & Properties (Malaysia). The 4-story building comprises 50 guestrooms, a hot-spring bathhouse, main dining area, sushi counter, bar, spa and the like.

This is the 6th Ritz Carlton hotel to open in the country, with others in Tokyo, Kyoto and the like, but is the first ‘Reserve’-grade property in Japan.
‘Reserve’ properties can be found at only 4 locations around the world, at beach resorts in Mexico, Thailand and the like, and one of the hotel’s characteristics is that each group of guests is allocated its own personal host to provide the services required.
According to General Manager Kaji, “As we cannot travel abroad, we would like guests to be able to enjoy the hospitality in Niseko, where it is easy to avoid the three Cs.”
